FAQ

How long does a website maintenance or repair project usually take?

Website maintenance and repair timelines depend on the issue, access, third-party systems and the agreed scope. Dobble starts with diagnosis, then confirms the recommended repair path before making changes. Emergency support is available, with response times typically within 4 hours, but urgent work outside an SLA is quoted or capped before commencement.

The time required for website maintenance or repairs depends on what has gone wrong, how complex the website is, what access is available and whether the issue involves third-party systems such as hosting providers, plugins, email platforms, DNS, payment gateways or external software.

Dobble does not treat every website issue the same way. A broken contact form, malware infection, slow website, checkout failure, display error or database problem can each have a different cause. Some issues can be diagnosed and repaired quickly, while others require a deeper technical review before work begins.

The first stage is usually an initial assessment. Dobble reviews the symptoms, confirms whether the website is hosted or maintained under an existing agreement, and checks the likely impact on the business. If the issue is urgent, emergency support is available. Typical emergency response time is within 4 hours, although this should not be read as a guarantee of full resolution within that period.

For clients outside an active SLA, emergency support is charged on an ad hoc basis. Dobble provides a quote, prediction or capped timing before commencing that work, so the client understands the likely scope before repairs begin.

After assessment, Dobble moves into diagnosis. This may include checking the website files, CMS behaviour, server environment, database, form handling, checkout process, DNS records, email delivery path, malware indicators, performance bottlenecks or third-party software conflicts. The goal is to identify the cause rather than only treating the visible symptom.

Where repairs involve Dobble-managed systems, Dobble can usually work more directly because the hosting, website, DNS or maintenance environment is already under its control. Where the issue involves third-party software, external hosting, plugins, registrars, payment gateways, cloud services or unauthorised client changes, timelines can depend on access, provider response times and the limits of those external systems.

Once the cause is understood, the repair stage can begin. Confirmed repair work may include malware removal, broken functionality fixes, display and mobile layout corrections, speed improvements, plugin conflict resolution where relevant, database repairs or other technical remediation. Dobble aims to address the underlying problem in a way that supports security, performance and long-term reliability, not just a temporary patch.

Where practical, changes are tested before being applied live. For larger repair work, redevelopment or structural changes, Dobble may use a secure staging environment so fixes can be reviewed before deployment. This is especially important when the issue affects business-critical functions such as enquiries, bookings, e-commerce checkout or integrations.

After repairs are completed, Dobble checks that the relevant functionality is working as expected. Depending on the issue, this may include form testing, mobile testing, speed checks, security checks, malware scans, database verification, DNS checks or monitoring setup. If the work relates to performance, Dobble may also review practical improvement areas such as caching, image optimisation, hosting configuration or code efficiency.

For ongoing website maintenance, the process is more preventative. Dobble’s maintenance approach can include software updates, security monitoring, performance optimisation, backup management, uptime monitoring and technical repairs within the agreed scope. The aim is to reduce avoidable downtime, security risks and emergency repair costs by identifying problems earlier.

Maintenance and repair work cannot guarantee that a website will never be hacked, experience downtime, suffer third-party outages or develop future issues. Hosting, plugins, external systems, compromised credentials, DNS changes and client-side modifications can all affect website stability. Dobble is responsible for services and systems directly under its control and may assist with third-party issues where practical, although additional charges may apply outside the client’s agreement.

If your website is slow, broken, hacked or behaving unpredictably, Dobble can assess the issue, explain the likely stages and recommend the most practical repair path. To begin, request a website maintenance assessment.
