FAQ

What approvals and compliance checks should I consider before starting a digital project?

Most website, hosting, domain, email and SEO projects do not need a formal permit, but they do require the right business approvals, access permissions and compliance checks. Dobble can guide the technical process, including staging, testing, DNS, hosting and email setup, but legal, industry and policy obligations should be confirmed by your own advisers.

Before starting a website, hosting, domain, email, SEO or custom development project, it is worth checking which approvals, access permissions and compliance requirements may apply. In most cases, a business website project does not require a formal permit in the way a building or signage project might. However, digital projects still involve important approval steps that can affect ownership, launch timing, technical setup and legal risk.

Dobble’s role is to manage the technical and strategic delivery of the project. This may include consultation, proposal acceptance, onboarding questionnaires, asset collection, technical audits, search analysis, site architecture planning, staging, testing, launch deployment, hosting, DNS, email configuration and ongoing management where applicable. Dobble develops and tests websites and applications in a secure staging environment before deployment, with client review and approval before launch where possible.

The first approval area is internal business approval. You should confirm who has authority to approve the project scope, design direction, content, pricing, launch timing and any ongoing service agreement. This is especially important where multiple directors, partners, franchise stakeholders, marketing managers or external consultants are involved. Clear decision-making helps avoid delays during design revisions, content approval and final launch sign-off.

The second area is access permission. Dobble may need access to relevant systems to complete technical work, such as domain registrars, DNS records, existing hosting, email platforms, analytics tools, payment gateways, CRMs, booking systems or other third-party services. Where migrations are involved, Dobble follows a planned process designed to minimise disruption, including auditing existing services, taking backups where possible, preparing the new environment and coordinating DNS changes carefully. Temporary interruptions can still occur because of DNS propagation, third-party providers or internet caching.

The third area is content and asset approval. Clients should ensure they have the right to use any logos, images, text, videos, product information, testimonials, case study details or brand assets supplied for the project. Dobble can assist with professional website copywriting and content planning where aligned with the project, but the client remains responsible for ensuring supplied business information is accurate, authorised and not misleading.

The fourth area is legal and regulatory compliance. This may include privacy obligations, website terms, acceptable use requirements, industry-specific advertising rules, consumer law considerations, health or legal sector restrictions, email marketing obligations, payment gateway rules and accessibility expectations. Dobble can implement technical and content structures that support a professional website, but it does not provide legal advice. If your business operates in a regulated industry, you should have relevant content, disclaimers, policies and claims reviewed by qualified advisers before publication.

Domain and email compliance also matter. Dobble manages domain registrations on the client’s behalf but does not own client domains. For .au domains, ownership remains with the registered client and domain registrations are subject to registry and registrar policies. For email, Dobble primarily uses Microsoft 365 for business email hosting, with other reputable third-party providers used where appropriate. Correct SPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration can support deliverability, but no provider can guarantee inbox placement, spam filtering outcomes or uninterrupted email availability.

For SEO projects, compliance also includes realistic representation of outcomes. Dobble uses a Search-First Strategy and structures websites around technical foundations, keyword intent, content planning and long-term organic growth. However, SEO rankings, traffic, enquiries and revenue cannot be guaranteed. Previous results and testimonials should be treated as examples, not promises of future performance.

If you are unsure what applies to your project, Dobble can help identify the technical approvals, access requirements and project dependencies during the consultation and onboarding process. For legal, regulatory or industry-specific obligations, you should seek independent professional advice before launch.
