FAQ

What are the stages of moving my website to Dobble’s managed hosting?

Dobble follows a planned migration process rather than simply changing DNS and hoping for the best. The timing depends on your website, hosting setup, domain access, email configuration and third-party services. Typical stages include assessment, backups where possible, environment setup, migration, testing, DNS cutover and ongoing management, with downtime minimised wherever practical.

Moving a website to Dobble’s managed hosting is handled as a planned technical process, not a rushed server switch. The goal is to reduce risk, protect business continuity and make sure the website is running correctly before final cutover.

Dobble provides free migration from your current host as part of its managed hosting service. The exact timeline depends on the size of the website, the current hosting provider, domain and DNS access, email configuration, third-party integrations, SSL requirements and whether any existing technical issues need to be resolved before the move.

The first stage is assessment. Dobble reviews the current website, hosting setup, domain records and any related services such as email, DNS, SSL certificates, forms, payment gateways or external tools. This helps identify risks before the migration begins, including outdated configurations, missing access details, poor DNS records or hosting limitations that could affect the move.

The second stage is preparation. Where possible, Dobble takes backups of the existing website and prepares the new managed hosting environment before anything is changed publicly. This may include configuring the server environment, SSL, caching, security settings, monitoring and any required compatibility settings. The aim is to have the new environment ready and tested before traffic is redirected.

The third stage is migration and testing. Website files, databases and required configuration are moved into the new environment. Dobble then checks that pages load correctly, forms work, key functionality behaves as expected and the website performs properly in the new hosting setup. If the website uses third-party systems, those connections may also need to be checked.

The fourth stage is DNS planning and cutover. DNS records connect your domain name to your hosting and other services. Dobble coordinates DNS changes carefully to reduce disruption, but DNS propagation, internet caching, registrar behaviour and third-party provider delays can still cause temporary interruptions. For this reason, migrations are planned rather than treated as instant switches.

The fifth stage is post-migration monitoring. After the website goes live on Dobble’s hosting, Dobble checks availability, loading behaviour and any immediate issues that may appear after DNS changes take effect across different networks. If domain, DNS or email services are also being managed, Dobble coordinates those systems so they align with the website hosting environment.

Once the migration is complete, the website moves into ongoing managed hosting. Dobble’s hosting includes features such as daily automated backups, SSL configuration, server-level caching, proactive monitoring, firewalls, malware scanning, intrusion detection and security patching. Hosting, maintenance, domain and email clients also have access to support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Dobble aims to maintain 99.9% monthly uptime for websites and hosting services managed on its infrastructure. This applies to the availability of the Dobble-managed web server and hosting environment, measured monthly. It is not a promise of uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, third-party outages, DNS provider issues, registrar issues, CDN services, client-side internet problems, force majeure events, client changes, misuse and services outside Dobble-managed infrastructure are excluded.

If you are planning a migration, the best first step is to let Dobble review your current setup. That allows the team to confirm what access is required, identify risks early and provide a practical migration plan based on your website, domain, DNS, email and hosting requirements.
