FAQ

What should I prepare before moving my website hosting to Dobble?

Before starting web hosting with Dobble, gather access to your current host, domain registrar, DNS, CMS and email provider, plus recent backups if available. Share any performance, security, downtime or email issues you want reviewed. Dobble audits the existing setup, prepares the new environment, coordinates DNS changes and plans migration to minimise disruption.

Before moving your website hosting to Dobble, the most useful preparation is to collect the access details, technical information and business context needed to plan the migration properly. Hosting is part of your digital infrastructure, so Dobble approaches it carefully rather than treating it as a quick file transfer.

Start by gathering access to your current web hosting account, domain registrar, DNS provider, CMS or website admin area, and any connected email provider. If your domain, hosting, website and email are managed by different companies, note who controls each part. This helps Dobble identify where the website is hosted, where DNS records are managed, how email is routed, and which third-party services may be affected during the move.

If you have access to recent backups, provide them. Dobble takes backups where possible as part of its migration process, but existing backup access can make the assessment easier. It is also helpful to share any known issues, such as slow load times, unreliable uptime, malware warnings, broken forms, checkout problems, email delivery problems or previous DNS changes that caused downtime.

Dobble will usually review your current setup before migration. This may include checking the existing hosting environment, DNS records, SSL status, website files, database structure, email records and any third-party integrations that could be affected. For business email, records such as MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC may need to be reviewed so website and email services continue to work correctly after DNS changes.

You should also confirm when the migration can take place. Dobble plans migrations to minimise downtime and disruption, but DNS propagation, internet caching and third-party provider behaviour can still cause temporary interruptions. If your website receives enquiries, sales, bookings or form submissions at particular times, let Dobble know so the cutover can be scheduled with business impact in mind.

It is useful to prepare the following before starting:

  • Current hosting login details or authorised provider contact details.
  • Domain registrar and DNS access.
  • Website CMS or admin login details, where available.
  • Email provider details, especially if email uses the same domain.
  • Recent backups, if you have them.
  • A list of forms, payment gateways, booking tools, CRMs or other integrations.
  • Any known performance, security, uptime or email issues.
  • Your preferred migration timing and key business blackout periods.

Once Dobble has the required information, the team can prepare the new managed hosting environment, test what can be tested before cutover, coordinate DNS changes and monitor the migration. Dobble’s managed hosting includes features such as SSL configuration, server-level caching, proactive monitoring, daily automated backups, firewalls, malware scanning, intrusion detection and security patching, subject to the agreed hosting arrangement.

After migration, Dobble can continue managing the hosting environment as part of its performance and security-focused approach. Dobble aims to maintain 99.9% monthly uptime for websites and hosting services managed on its infrastructure, subject to exclusions such as scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, third-party outages, DNS provider issues, client-side connectivity issues, force majeure events and services not directly managed by Dobble.

If you are unsure who controls your domain, DNS, hosting or email, that is a common starting point. Dobble can help audit the setup and identify what access is needed before making changes. To begin, contact Dobble to discuss your hosting needs and the current state of your website infrastructure.
