FAQ

Will my business be disrupted while Dobble builds, migrates or updates my website?

Dobble plans website builds, migrations and updates to minimise disruption. Most work happens in a secure staging environment before anything goes live, and clients can usually keep operating from their office or home. Some temporary interruptions may occur during DNS, hosting, domain or email changes, but Dobble coordinates cutovers carefully and prepares the new environment before launch.

Dobble’s approach is designed to keep your business operating while website, hosting, domain, email or maintenance work is underway. Most website design and development work is completed in a secure staging environment before it is deployed to the live website. This means your existing website can usually remain available while Dobble plans the structure, builds the new site, tests functionality and prepares for launch.

For most projects, you do not need to stop trading, close your office or change the way your team works day to day. If you operate from home, run a small business remotely or manage enquiries outside a traditional office, Dobble can generally coordinate the project without needing physical access to your premises. The main access requirements are usually digital, such as domain registrar access, DNS access, hosting details, email platform access, analytics accounts, website logins, brand assets, content and any third-party system credentials required for the project.

Where possible, Dobble gives clients access to a password-protected staging website so they can review progress, provide feedback and approve refinements before launch. This staging website is often hosted on a subdomain such as staging.domain.com.au. If access to the client’s domain is not yet available, Dobble may use a password-protected Cloudflare Tunnel to share the staging version securely. This lets the project move forward while access issues are being resolved.

For website migrations, hosting changes, domain management and email moves, Dobble follows a planned process to reduce avoidable downtime. Existing services are audited before migration, backups are taken where possible, and the new environment is prepared and tested before cutover. DNS changes are then coordinated carefully to reduce propagation delays. However, DNS propagation, internet caching, third-party providers, registrars, Microsoft 365, Cloudflare, payment gateways and other external services can still cause temporary interruptions outside Dobble’s direct control.

Email access is handled with particular care because unreliable email can disrupt enquiries, invoices and client communication. Dobble primarily uses Microsoft 365 for business email hosting, although other reputable providers may be used depending on client requirements. During email migration, Dobble can review existing DNS settings, prepare the new mailbox environment, coordinate authentication records such as SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and test sending and receiving after cutover. No provider can guarantee uninterrupted email availability or inbox placement, but correct planning reduces avoidable issues.

If you need to update your own website content after launch, Dobble can provide limited Genesis CMS access where appropriate. Permissions are assigned at Dobble’s discretion to help protect the integrity, security and functionality of the website. Basic training and documentation for common content management tasks can also be provided where requested.

For hosting, maintenance, domain and email clients, Dobble’s support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Emergency support is also available, with typical response times within 4 hours. If a client is outside an SLA, emergency support is charged on an ad hoc basis, with quotes, predictions or capped timing supplied before work begins.

The best way to minimise disruption is to provide required access early, respond to approval requests promptly, confirm key business hours, and advise Dobble of any critical periods where downtime would be especially disruptive. Dobble will then plan the work around the project scope, technical requirements and third-party dependencies as carefully as possible.
